summer shell

I want to knit a washable, sleeveless shell, but not of cotton. I just finished one in cotton, and it lacks drape and isn't form fitting enough.

Which yarn type do you recommend? viscose and nylon is what my ready wear is, but it is such a fine gauge. I think that wouldl be difficult to knit as fishing line.

Do you have a pattern recommendation? I have knitted socks, hats and sweaters. I am able to read patterns.

I was in my local craft store today and noticed that C&C makes a cotton/acrylic blend (49/50) yarn in their TLC line that has the feel of cotton but is considerably lighter in weight. It seems to be a worsted gauge. It has a very pleasant hand in the skein. I'll bet it would give you the properties you are looking for. And - guess what; there is a summer shell pattern on the yarnband.
