Pattern reads: repeat row for St patt. I don't know how many rows to crochet. How do I know when to stop?

Is this a crochet stitch pattern that consists of just one row? If so, stop when your item is as long as you want it to be.

'St patt' often refers to stockinette stitch in knitting. If it is in a crochet pattern, there should be a pattern index with specific instruction for that stitch. Often patterns will have you repeat a pattern until the piece measures a specific number of inches.
