Knitting instructions

What does it means when instructions read "always turning your work in the same direction at end of rows?" Does it mean that it is necessary to have needles without stoppers on the end?

When you complete a row and turn the needle with your fabric on it around (from your right hand to your left hand) to start knitting the next row, always turn your needle clockwise or counterclockwise (your choice). There is something about the pattern or the yarn making it necessary to make sure you are turning your fabric around the same direction every time.

Does that make sense?
