Scrolling through past posts to see if your question has already been asked and answered. Postings are in chronological order of the date when the topic was first posted. You can also use the SEARCH function to look for past posts about your question.

If you don't see your question addressed, or if you have additional questions, post a New Topic rather than replying to an existing topic. This will increase the likelihood of getting responses to your specific question. Also, try to describe your specific question in the topic subject line rather than "New Knitter" or "Help."

The more information you can provide in your question, the better the responses.

We hope you enjoy the postings on this board and will come back to share your knowledge with others.

Well, I have really experimented. I have always used the long tail cast on, but this year I have started to experiment.

The problem with the tail cast on, if you have a lot of stitches to cast on is how long should the tail be,that is when I tried the knitted cast on and I liked it.

For this sweater, I have really experimented. I have a new knitting book and it gave directions for a tubular that was crocheted on with a scrap yarn, and then knit a row, purl a row, and knit a row, and then dig down into the scrap and pick up the main color, using a purl, knit, purl. It was suppose to give a professional stretch cast on. But my pattern is a knit 6 purl 6 going into cables. So I didn't like that rib at the bottom.

So I modified it (I am quite Proud of my bravery) I did it just like it said, except I made it follow my 6k6p pattern. I don't think it is as stretchy, but I like the look. And it doesn't roll at all.
