To get the most out of these boards, before posting a topic, we suggest:

Scrolling through past posts to see if your question has already been asked and answered. Postings are in chronological order of the date when the topic was first posted. You can also use the SEARCH function to look for past posts about your question.

If you don't see your question addressed, or if you have additional questions, post a New Topic rather than replying to an existing topic. This will increase the likelihood of getting responses to your specific question. Also, try to describe your specific question in the topic subject line rather than "New Knitter" or "Help."

The more information you can provide in your question, the better the responses.

We hope you enjoy the postings on this board and will come back to share your knowledge with others.

Different Type of Cable

I'm new to this message board and after reading through many of the past posts, I'm certain someone will be able to help me.

I've knitted cable patterns many times, but this is a different type of cable and I'm stumped. Row 6 is the
one giving me problems.

Pattern is as follows:
Cast on 40 sts.
Row 1 - wrong side -- P

Row 2 - K4; *k next 2 sts wrapping yarn twice around needle, k4; repeat from * to end

Row 3 - P4; * with yarn at front, sl next 2 sts as to p, dropping the extra wraps, p4; repeat from * to end

Row 4 - K4; *with yarn at back, sl next 2 sts as to p, k4; repeat from * to end

Row 5 - P4; *with yarn at front, sl 2 sts as to p, p4; repeat from * to end

Row 6 - K2; *skip next 2 sts, k next st inserting needle through front loop of st, do not drop
from needle, then k first and 2nd sts on left needle, drop the 3rd st from needle, sl next st to hook,
hold at front, k2, k st from hook; repeat from *, end k2

Row 7 - P.

After looking through numerous knitting patterns, I believe the above (row 6) is sometimes referred to as
cross 2 L, cross 2 R. I tried to follow the pattern for these stitches and just couldn't get the pattern
correct either.

Your help is appreciated.
