Since the intersia is a little advanced for me, I'm working on fair isle knitting. I got this great chart from Sarah Bradberry:

I still need more practice to master it though. I love these little shapes and zags.
Question:
1. Where can I get some free fair isle pattern charts? Those designs are pretty cool!
2. Will grid paper really equal the correct number of stitches for a fair isle pattern?
AKA Can I use equally-squared grid paper and markers to make my own pattern (keeping in mind that blocks of color = holes)?

I saw a whole bunch of other styles of knitting in color:

Maybe once I master the art of fair isle, I'll investigate another style. I just thought that was cool.

Thanks for your help and experience!
