Patons Pattern Help

I have been crocheting a cardigan. The pattern states:

2nd row: Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn

Rep last row until work from beg measures 6 inches, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape sides: Next row (RS) Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. SC2tog over las 2 sc. Turn.

Work 5 rows even.

Rep last 6 rows 3 times more 46 sts.

I stuck at the work 5 rows even. Am I suppose to sc in each sc?
Also, Rep last 6 rows. Does that mean i should do 5 rows of sc in each sc and the 6th row should be the shape sides row?

Please help, I'm confused.
