Coats and Clark (makers of Red Heart yarns) has added a useful chart to their web site. They call it their "Multi-color Coordinate List" [
www.coatsandclark.com] and it shows the solid colors that coordinate with their variegated yarns (including Super Saver [worsted], Baby, TLC [soft], and several others).
For example, in E300 Red HeartŪ Super SaverŪ, the variegated #310 Monet Print can be matched/coordinated with these solids: #322 Pale Yellow, #347/827 Lt. Periwinkle, #358 Lavender, #363 Pale Green, #530 Orchid. (It would take me a week to figure that out by comparing skeins in the yarn aisle at Walmart!)
The chart should save time for many yarn crafters (can I coin the term "yarners"?), and will be especially useful to those who have trouble matching or combining colors "by eye". If you use variegated Red Heart yarns, you may want to print out the chart (about 4 pages for the entire chart) and take it with you when you buy yarn for your next project.
I'm also pleased because I had written to the company a while back, asking for this. If you use and like this chart, please be sure to thank Coats and Clark for considering and responding to the request!
