To get the most out of these boards, before posting a topic, we suggest:

Scrolling through past posts to see if your question has already been asked and answered. Postings are in chronological order of the date when the topic was first posted. You can also use the SEARCH function to look for past posts about your question.

If you don't see your question addressed, or if you have additional questions, post a New Topic rather than replying to an existing topic. This will increase the likelihood of getting responses to your specific question. Also, try to describe your specific question in the topic subject line rather than "New Knitter" or "Help."

The more information you can provide in your question, the better the responses.

We hope you enjoy the postings on this board and will come back to share your knowledge with others.

Double Base Chain Stitch > is what it is called.
I like to use this Double Based Stitch instead of changing hook sizes.
The Squares I make do look much more even .
This stitch also makes for a nicer beginning row look !
It matches the last row.
Try it and see for yourself.

In 2005 Becky posted a site that no longer shows the pictures or the pattern,
BUT I found this info on the Lionbrand site in 2006 >

This Stitch is used in several of the Lionbrand Patterns with this name >
Base Ch/Sc
Base Ch/Sc
Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops 1 single crochet with its own chain at bottom. Work next stitch under loops of that chain. Insert hook under 2 loops at bottom of the previous stitch, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Repeat for length of foundation.
Note This stitch creates a foundation with more stretch than usual.
