Crochet instructions

I am making a baby blanket
The instructions state skip next 2 ch-1 sps (not understanding ch-1
Is this referring to the stitch?

Also (dc, ch1) 3 times in next ch-3 sp?

Please help

Abbreviations Book is what you may need to continue with Crochet !
