Trouble working with super bulky yarn

I bought some really soft wonderful yarn to crochet a baby blanket for my first grandchild, but I am having trouble working with the super bulky yarn. I cant see my stitches, so I don't know where to put my hook to continue. Any tips????

What size hook are you using? And is the yarn textured or smooth?

Using larger hooks generally leads to larger stitches which are easier to see. However, if the yarn is textured, it is just difficult and I suggest working with good light when you won't be too distracted.
