Needing some more help on reading pattern

Im actually making some head way in my sweater and am now doing he sleeves.... the pattern states the following, and i need help decoding it..

Proceed in stocking stitch, inc 1 stitch each end of 5th and every following 8th row...

not sure what the 5th and every following 8th row means

help?

Starting from the current row as Row 1, when you get to Row 5, increase 1 st at each end. (You already know that.)

Now reset your row counter, beginning with Row 1. When you get to Row 8, inc 1 st at each end.

Repeat the last paragraph as needed...

I think it means that you increase on the fifth row, and then work 8 more rows, increasing again on the last of the 8, and then work 8 more before increasing again, etc. Hope this helps!
