newbie pattern question

Hello I am new to knitting and have just started an intermediate pattern for a baby blanket and I don't believe the stitches are adding up for me.

Row 1 is K1,yo,ssk,k7[k8,k2tog,yo,k1,yo,ssk,k7]6 times,k7,k2tog,yo,k1

The pattern is supposed to be worked over 141 sts but I am adding it up as 155 stitches. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks

That should truly produce a large amount of ugg boots uk pleasure to a lot of persons. Providing that should really await revenues to get Erika Kors carriers. You can cheap uggs forget making in an effort to structure outlet department shops expectant getting a lot upon an out

You must be adding stitches somewhere. Are you confident that you are completing the ssk and k2tog stitches correctly? The ssk and k2tog stitches will decrease a stitch each time (two stitches become one).

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was making the yarn over as a stitch.

The way you have Row 1 written is 140 stitches. 10 before the [ . 120 (20 x 6) inside the []. And 10 after the ]. If the pattern calls for 141 stitches, you are missing one stitch in the instruction or the pattern is incorrect on how many stitches there should be.

Because you have a difference of 14 sts between what you say you have and what you say the pattern calls for, you are most likely doing the K2tog or the ssk incorrectly just like the first reply says. Each of those stitches decrease from 2 stitches to 1 stitch.
