Does anyone happen to have an octagon placemat pattern they could share? Or an octagon pattern of part of an afghan they could suggest that would work which is not too "holey." I don't like holes in my placemats..lol. Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Happy 4th of July,
This is a Lion Brand pattern for an 5" octagon. You can simply make another round or two and make it any size you need. Once you have the first couple of rows, you have created the shape. Hope you enjoy. God Bless.
Ch 5, sl st in beg ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 16 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 32 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 48 dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 72 dc. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
