Hello:
The new site is awesome. However, I am unable to find anything, but we can always start over.
I am knitting a Softee Baby Hoodie
I am at the shoulder shaping. It says:
Shoulder shaping: Keeping cont of pat,
cast off 6 (7-7) sts beg next 4 rows, then
5 (6-8) sts beg following 2 rows. Cast off
rem 19 (21-23) sts.
Please help me again. I have no idea how to get this done.
Do I just cast off the first sts finish knitting the row and move to the next row?
Thank you

Thank you, Marian
Marian, thank you for your help. I do hope I do it correctly now.

You do indeed bind/cast off the first 6 (7-7) sts and continue across the row. After turning, you repeat this bind/cast off instruction, and continue this way until you have done it twice on each side (4 rows). You then bind/cast off 5(6-9) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. This leaves you with the remaining sts. I would knit across them after the last bind/cast off, turn and bind/cast them off. Of course, you are keeping the continuity of the pattern while doing this. Not confusing ... we just have to learn to read and blindly follow directions (something I find myself not doing after knitting for too many years to count).
Hope this helps. Happy Knitting!!! Marian
