Help with Knitting directions

I'm new at this.I am making a sensation boucle rainbow throw. it says to cast on12 stitches then knit 24 rows.after that cast on 12 stitches k to the end.
next row cast on 12 stitches k 12 p 12
row 1 knit
row 2 k 12 p 12 rep rows 1&2 eleven more times.-12 garter stiches on rs.I know garter stitch is a knit stitch but i don't know what they mean by -12 garter stitches. should that row end in a garter st?

Need stitch pattern for hat--rib and garter

I'd like to knit a hat and scarf with this pattern.

Does anyone here know the stitch pattern for this, please? I can work out the whole hat pattern (size, # of stitches, color changes, etc.). It looks like one rib, then 4 garter stitches repeated. I've tried to copy it myself but it hasn't worked out.

newbie pattern question

Hello I am new to knitting and have just started an intermediate pattern for a baby blanket and I don't believe the stitches are adding up for me.

Row 1 is K1,yo,ssk,k7[k8,k2tog,yo,k1,yo,ssk,k7]6 times,k7,k2tog,yo,k1

The pattern is supposed to be worked over 141 sts but I am adding it up as 155 stitches.Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong.Thanks

Advice for a local yarn shop owner.

I am preparing to open a local yarn shop and would love to hear from knitters and crocheters about what things you would love to see in a shop.
