Fun use of old yarn

I have had best time using up all of my leftover yarn to make a multicolored caterpillar for my grandson. You can just keep on crocheting these caterpillar balls and legs, matching up wild colors until you get rid of all of your old yarn. It is hilarious! I got the pattern as a free gift from Charles Publishing at http://www.angelfire.com/art/crochetbycarole/crochet.html Their address is P.O.B. 577E, Weatherford, Texas 76086 Have fun!

Certification

I paid to become certified...FYI they rip you off! They are extremely unprofessional and take months to get back to you... THIS IS A WARNING.....not worth it unless you like spending money for nothing..

What does it mean to leave last dc unworked?

I have come to a line in my pattern that tells me to "dc in next 3 dc leaving last dc unworked, ch 2,". I don't understand what it means by leaving last dc unworked. Does it just want me to replace it with the ch 2? Why wouldn't they just state dc in next 2 dc, ch 2 in next dc? I'm really lost here...obviously. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Tandrea

Current Crochet Thread sizes vs. 1940's sizes

My mother-in-law is going to make a crocheted tablecloth for us from a pattern that was published in 1946. It calls for 68 balls of Aunt Lydia's size 30 crochet thread. We're wondering if size 30 in 1946 is the same as the size 30 that is available now. We realize today's sizes are standardized, but were the same standards in effect in the 1940's? We've tried to find a way to contact Aunt Lydia's, because this thread is still sold in stores, but we can't find an email address or website for them (just sites where we can buy it). Also, we don't know how much thread was on a ball in 1946.
