I would really like to teach myself how to crochet and knit. My grandmother was wonderful at it, unfortunately, I was too young to appreciate it at the time. Any suggestions how to go about doing it? Thanks!

I learned to crochet from my Granny when I was 15 years old. (That was a LOOONG time ago). I'm better at learning when someone SHOWS me. If you learn the same way, might I suggest that you contact a local Senior Citizen's Center or some other senior-based community service and see if you can find someone willing to teach you? There are LOTS of seniors that would love to spend time passing on skills to someone interested in learning. And chances are, a wonderful relationship would develop.

There are a lot of good books out there that go through the basic stitches and more advanced ones also. Keep checking your local craft stores for such publications. I taught my self (with a Little help from and aunt.) The rest I got from books.
