what is the best stitch for making a thick warm crochet blanket?

If you know Tunisian crochet aka afghan stitch, that makes a thick, warm blanket. Otherwise, I would go with a solid sc stitch pattern.

This is a DOUBLE thickness stitch >
I would use a very large Hook for a Blanket ,
since I make Potholders with this stitch and they are Heavy !
It is the Yellow and Variegated piece !
