in the side border, it says to skip a sc, and do 3 dc in the next 3 sc, then go back to the skipped sc and do another dc.
"2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss
next sc. 1 dc in each of next 3 sc. 1 dc
in missed sc. Rep from * to last sc.
1 dc in last sc. Turn"
this sounds like it wants me to go backward then forward again. makes no sense, and when i tried it, it looked horrible. i tried doing that until where it says to go back and i did a ch 1 instead and then just went onto the next set of 3 dc in sc. that doesnt look right either. neither my mom nor my aunt can figure this out.

The way I was able to make
The way I was able to make this work is when I went back to dc in the skipped (missed) sc, I inserted my hook into this missed stitch from the back instead of from the front. This creates a dc which angles across the front of the three dc's you made previously. Be sure to keep this crossed dc loose to minimize pulling in your border.
