I would like to knit an edge on the two bottom edges of a shawl, but am having problems of getting the cast on edge and the bind off edge to look similar. Edge pattern states as follows: After casting on, Row 1: knit 3, *bind off 3 sts, k3, rep from * to end. Rows 2-5 knit. I tried to work in the reverse so the bind off would look like the cast off, but I have not been successful. In reverse before binding off, I knitted 2-5 rows, k3, *cast on 3 sts (single cast on method), k3, rep from * to end. The next row I bind off. It just doesn't have the same look as the cast on edge. does anyone know how to facilitate this? I was trying to avoid knitting two halves or sewing on both edges because I am not very good at sewing pieces together. In addition, I have decided to knit shawls and blankets for various causes (cancer, births, etc.). This is a new project for me so any ideas, suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.
