almost done and first chain too loose

Hello,
I'm a beginning crocheter and am almost finished with my first baby blanket. Problem is, the very first row that I chained. I made it too loose to begin with and it now seems to have become even more loose. There are large loops that I don't think I can do anything with.

I want to do a nice edging, looked up Picot and was going to do that. The instructions say to chain a round first. But I don't know what to do with that bottom row of loose chains. I got all the way to the end and then realized that this is going to be a problem.

I'm ready to do the edging now, is there anything I can do to work in the loose chains?

I have this problem a lot. I did a slip stitch through mine, I had done the edging first or I would have done it through the first row. Ah, learning...

I liked admin2's ideas. sounds like they'd turn out better than mine.

2 of Several different ways.

Try to pull the yarn all the way along the chain row.
You will have to hand twist and pull at each stitch to make it tighter.
THEN , I cut the extra yarn and make a knot.

Or > work your sc edge into the chain and 1st row.

I don't know if these will work for you , but these are a few ways I have used with a row too loose.
