I am a beinning knitter and have found a pattern I really like. I need help with one of the instructions.

Using smaller needle, CO 100 (120) sts; join, being careful not to twist sts, pm for beg of round and every 20 (24) sts around –5 sections.

What do they mean by 5 sections?

You will cast on 100 stitches for the smaller size, 120 sts for the larger size. You will divide these up ("pm" means "place marker") every 20 (or 24) sts; the "--5 sections" is simply telling you this will yield 5 sections, so you can doublecheck your work before going on.
