Need Help with Hat Pattern

Crochet

Crocheting a hat for Christmas. It's crocheted flat with a seam on the back. I have the piece complete. Now the pattern says "Fasten off leaving a long end. Draw end through rem sts and fasten securely. Sew center back seam."

I don't understand what they mean by "draw end through rem sts". Will this close the hole at the top of the hat some how. This end is 16 sts and about 6 ins. long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've always done hats that are worked in a circle pattern. This is my first worked this way and the pattern instructions have not been the best. Thanks in advance!!

simple answer: yes

You have enough yarn to thread it through the remaining stitches and sew the back seam. Pull up the yarn you have threaded through the sixteen stitches first though so that you can adjust the gather. It may look too puckery or too loose if you just continue down the seam without taking a little extra stitch to make a nice smooth top.

A needle used for plastic canvas can be used to gather in the 16 sts or you canwork with the crochet hook.
Gather > Pull the yarn tightly and this will close up that end .

If you SEW material and make the Yo Yo's
( gathered circle material ) this is the IDEA !!
