I am attempting to form a group of knitters/crocheters to work together at a senior home to make things for WUA and wonder what yarn choices would be best for infant hats and afghans. Thanks for any help

If you are doing charity
If you are doing charity knitting, acrylic yarns will probably be your most cost-effective yarns to use. Also, if you will be giving projects to hospitals and nursing homes, you would want a yarn that will hold up to machine washing.
Cotton yarns could also be a good choice, particularly for infants although cotton does not have "memory" so that it tends to stretch out over time. Usually washing and drying will bring it back to near original shape/size.
