I am knitting a vest in garter stitch and at a certain point, the pattern says that I need to finish knitting on right side. Which side would be the right oe ingarter stitich, can I choose the neater side? Does anyone have any photos of the wrong and right side of garter stitich? Does it really make a difference?

Since both sides of a garter
Since both sides of a garter stitch fabric look the same, there is no particular right or wrong side. I will often times take a coillness stitch marker or run some contrasting color yarn through the side I decide will be the 'right" side of my garment since this will affect when I execute any shaping instructions.
Pick whichever side you like and then be sure to be consistent with any remaining pieces.
