Triangular Shawl to Knit Pattern

You begin with one stitch and increase stitches on each row to fashion this dramatic V-shaped back that drapes gracefully over the shoulders. Openwork stitching along the edges adds a delicate finish.

MATERIALS
Bulky Weight Yarn#5 Bulky weight symbol

[3 ounces, 135 yards

(85 grams, 123 meters) per skein]:
#105 Pastel Blue - 3 skeins
31" (78.5 cm) Circular knitting needle, size 11
(8 mm) or size needed for gauge

GAUGE: In Stockinette Stitch,
11 sts and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm)
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

SHAWL

Cast on 1 st.

Row 1 (Knit into the front and the back of the st (increase made): 2 sts.

Row 2: Increase, K1: 3 sts.

Row 3-6: Increase, knit across: 7 sts.

Row 7: (Right side): K3, YO, knit across: 8 sts.

Row 8: K3, YO, purl across to last 3 sts, K3: 9 sts.

Repeat Rows 7 and 8 until piece measures approximately 32" (81.5 cm) from cast on edge, ending by working a wrong side row.

Next Row: Increase, K1, * K2 tog, YO; repeat from * across to last 3 sts, K3.

Next 5 Rows: Knit across.

Bind off all stitches in knit.

Weave in yarn ends.
