Pattern confusion - lost in translation

BODICE
Dividing Row [RS]: [K to marker, remove marker and place next 30[32, 34, 36, 38, 42] sts on hold on waste yarn, remove marker, CO 6[6, 8, 8, 10, 10] sts using backward loop method] twice, k to end. 106[110, 118, 122, 134, 142] sts.

I am so confused by this. I understand up to the second remove marker but then I am lost. I guess I don't really understand what I am trying to accomplish here so it is hard for me to make heads or tails. Another description or interpretation would be amazing.

Kitchen Rug

Hi there. i am trying to make a kitchen rug from a pattern i found. it's indicating that i should cast on 53 stitches for a 24/36" measurement.

I want to make it so it turns out to be 24 / 27" using 7mm needles, so I am wondering how many stitches I should cast on?

Make sense?

Thank you!

Tracy

Question about pattern lingo

The section that says

Increase Row 1 [RS]: K1, M1R, [k to 1 st before marker, yo, k2, yo] 4 times, k to last st, M1L, k1. 10 sts increased.
P 1 row.

When do you do the 10 sts increased? I can identify two increases the M1R and the M1L, but don't understand where these 10 come from.

poncho pattern

Hello again, well I have finished the fist 9 rows of my poncho and the pattern tells me it is time to change from my 10.5 circular needle to a 11 circular needle.

My first attempt to do this caused many stitches to drop off and I basically started over.

I think I am changing needles out the wrong way. I really do not want to have stiches drop off again.

Do I simply manuever the loops from the 10.5 needle onto the 11 needle or is there another way?

thank you in advance.

Gauge Problem

I'm working on a sweater from the Paton's Next Steps Six "Learn to Cable." It's on page 51 "Fading Cables Pullover."

The gauge is 20 sts and 26 rows= 4 ins.

My width is correct, but the length is ending up 1 inch too long.

The back is all in stocking stitch so if I knit to the correct length (17 1/2 ins) then shape armholes, how will that effect the front when I start to do the three different cable patterns?

I am a beinning knitter and have found a pattern I really like. I need help with one of the instructions.

Using smaller needle, CO 100 (120) sts; join, being careful not to twist sts, pm for beg of round and every 20 (24) sts around –5 sections.

What do they mean by 5 sections?

Chemo Caps

I'm finally finished with my radiation therapy, my husband's heart "episode" and our cat's intestinal trauma, and am ready to begin knitting again for others. Since a friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer and will need chemotherapy, I thought chemo caps in her honor would be a good place to start. Do you have any quick and easy - and well-received - patterns/suggestions? Many thanks! Carla

I,m totaly baffled by this pattern (Fairly new knitter).I just did a purl row. Pattern says turn work and cast on 19 stitches (did that). Turn back and knit across 25 sts from first ear flap(I'm making a snowboarder hat and am adding on the 1st ear flap). Turn back? How? Then it says turn work and cast on 8 sts. All this turning is confusing me. Please help.
