Crochet Kerchief

crochet kerchiefFor summertime or anytime, this quick-to-crochet kerchief is all the fashion rage. Make one to match every outfit and for more spice, embellish your finished kerchiefs with colorful embroidery. One size fits almost everyone from teens to adults. If you have a special fitting need, adjust the length of the straps.

Materials:

* 1 ball of a sport-weight yarn (A microfiber or cotton yarn is a sensible choice for the summer.)
* Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook
* Sewing needle with a large eye to weave in the ends
* Small amounts of yarn for embroidery (optional)

Abbreviations:

chain (ch)
single crochet (sc)
double crochet (dc).

Begin at the point by chaining (ch) 3. In the last ch from hook work 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc. Ch 3, turn the piece.
Row 2: Work 2 dc in last dc of previous row, ch 1, work [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Work 2 dc in last dc of previous row, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 space, ch 1, work [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in corner ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 4–15: Continue as established, work [ch 1, 3 dc] in each ch-1 space and [ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in each corner. Fasten off.

Straps.

Join yarn to one corner and ch 50. Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat on other side.
