My daughter just returned from Ecuador where she learned to crochet. She was using a nylon type yarn that was about as thick as worsted yarn. Does anyone know where she is able to buy more? She made a gorgeous purse using 16 granny squares. Thank you.

I am working on a ski cap and need some help on how to do the ribbing at the bottom of the cap. The instructions say to SC around post from front, then SC around post in next post from the back and repeat. I'm not quite sure how to do this. Can anyone help?

I am starting a two color granny square. The directions say to finish off and change colors at the end of each row. So am I to cut the yarn each time? What exactly is Finish Off?

Thanks for your help.

I just started the sleeve for the retro sweater pattern from moda dea - Babies and Kids collection 1 pages 32 & 33. I am stuck. I followed row one. Row 2 states - Ch 1, sc in front lp of each sc across; turn.
work 1 (1,2,2) rows even. does that mean I work row 1 for 2 more rows?

Then it reads -
Dec row: ch 1, sc in front lp of first sc. SC2tog, sc in front lp of each st across to last 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in front lp of last st. - I get this but then it states -

skp trc???

I am stuck on a shawl pattern that reads like this, if someone could PLEASE explain:
[2trc,ch1,2trc](=one group)all in next trc, skip 2 trc, 3 trc in next space between next 2 trc, [2trc, ch 3, 2tc](=one center group) all in center ch 3 space, skip 2 trc, 3 trc in next between next 2 trc, 1 group in last trc.

I'm especially confused with next trc, and skip trc. Does that just mean the next chain or does it have to be a trc chain. And does skip 2 trc mean 10 chains or 2 trc stitches??

Finishing an old bedspread

Hi,

I am trying to finish a very old bedspread that was started by my grandmother and stored for years. The spread was about 70% finished and extra thread stored with the original spread. I have been able to determine the pattern and the gauge but the pieces I've finished are very stiff compared to her original pieces. Is there a technique that "softens" the thread as you crochet?

why does my row keep getting smaller and longer?

I'm crocheting for the first time and i'm trying to do a single crochet row after row, i figured if i hooked into each stitch it would keep getting bigger after each row, so from the second row on i hook in at every other stitch but the sides on my "square" are not straight at all!!!! they go in and out and it's quite rediculous. I don't know what to do, i've been counting my stitches and the number is still right.
