Puckering when changing stitches

I'm crocheting an afghan in a square. I need to lengthen it on two sides. I've been doing the back loops only. When I try to lengthen on one side going through two loops, it puckers just as if I had INCREASED the hook size. I tried decreasing the hook size from J to I, but it only helped a little. I'm trying to finish a Xmas project! Help!

How to determine skeins of yarn needed for a project

I have a easy crochet pattern but the materials portion is complicated.

18 (24,24,30,30) oz (A)

(100% acrylic; 3oz/85g, approx 150yds/137m ball):

Can someone help me figure out how much yarn I need for this project? There are 5 sizes. S (M,L, 1X,2X) I need yarn for size M.
Thanks in advance

Unintentional rippling with correct number of stitches.

I'm having an issue with the blanket I am crocheting. It keeps getting wider and wider, and it is rippling. I was having this problem before and it turned out that I was indeed dropping stitches. Now, as suggested, I count all of the stitches. Every row has 180 stitches. I am using dc, cdt, dt, sc and qt. The tension is not changing (I don't think). It's long but please keep reading, please.

I don't have anyone who can show me what I'm doing. I do know that I am doing my stitches correctly and consistently, my stitch count is consistent for every row (even the wider ones).

Pattern on TV show

I saw a pattern for a crocheted top on a PBS TV show and they said I could find it on the knitandcrochet.com site but I can't find it. The front and back both started with semi circular designs. One of the women said she was making it as top for a dress adding a fabric skirt. Can anyone help me find this pattern?

Confused with Incease in Pattern for Sleeve

This is my first attempt at making a cardigan after many, many years of afghans. I'm enjoying the results, but have run into a little snag in the instructions and I hope that someone might help me comprehend this.

Pattern says:

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in next st, ch 2, skip next ch-2 space, *skip next dc, FPdc around next dc, working in front of FPdc just made, FPdc aroudn skipped dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 space; repeat from * to last 2 sts, hdc in last 2 sts, turn --
