Crochet

joining

Hi, I am making motifs and am having trouble joining them. I don't know what stitch to start at. It has a single crochet edge all around and 3 in each corner. When I am joining them I seem to be getting a big bump when I try to join more than 2 motifs. Where do I start and end to join?

Thanks,

Carol

Could someone please help me with this pattern

I'm new at crocheting, and this pattern has me confused. I don't know if I'm suppose to turn at the end of each row or just continue going around.

1st row (1 dc. Ch 3. 3dc) in 6th ch from hook. *(Miss next 4 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Miss next 4 ch. (1dc. Ch 3. dc) in next ch. Rep from * to last 4 ch. Miss next 3 ch. 1 sc in last ch.

2nd row Ch5 (counts as dc and ch 2). *(1dc. Ch3. 3dc) in next ch-3 sp. (1 sc in next ch-3 sp. Ch3) twice. Rep from * to last ch-3 sp. (1 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in last ch-3 sp. 1 sc in top of turning ch.

Need help with crochet thread sizes

Dear All,

am asking for help, because I live abroad, and need to understand what exactly You mean under cotton thread sizes. I am trying to figure out the thickness of crochet cotton threads. There are sizes 3, 5, 10 to 100, but I can't find the information what the ratio of weight to length for each size of the thread is. Maybe anyone has an idea where I can get this info? Or at least the data how to convert these sizes in "tex" measurement unit?

Thank You very much in advance.

Need clarification on instructions

I am working on the cap-sleeve top in the "Crochet that Fits" by Mary Jane Hall, the directions for the sleeves are a bit confusing. I get really confused on row 3, below are the instructions.

Ch 41

Row 1: (RS) Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each rem ch across; turn - 39 dc (got this part)

Row 2: Ch 3, sk first dc, dc in blo of each dc across, ending with last dc in first skipped ch; turn - 39 dc (got this part too)

Row 3: Work same as Row 2, ending with last dc in 3rd ch of beg ch-3 (confused where to stop)

Cut into crochet project

I was trying to add length to a sweater. I started at the bottom to work down and of course the stitches weren't as I had been working because that part had been the first stitches chained. I then took scissors and cut through thinking I could pull small threads out and follow old stitches. Now I have a real mess. Do I have to forfeit the whole side of the sweater now and start over or is my project salvagable?

help finding a pattern/directions

I found directions in my aunt's things for a potholder. It starts as a rectangle and by folding and stitching it becomes a square. HELP. Here's what I have: Chain 40.Single Crochet down one side of chain and up around the other side. Keep going for 18 rows. Stop between start of chain and first row, leave quite a long tail of yarn, and fold the two ends together in the middle and close neatly. ??????????? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I just feel that some of the directions are missing.
