Need Help in Reading the Pattern for Cardi

Here is the link of my pattern: http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2357.pdf

Thank you for the explanation in doing the side edging. I want to know as how many single crochet do I have to make for the side edging? I did make 68 single crochet as indicated in parenthesis on the pattern but when I tried to sew the side side seams some portions doesn't have any single crochet is that normal?

For the side seams: what does the pattern mean:

sewing sleeves together

Hi,

I am making a sweater and I am not sure how I should begin to sew the sleeves together. Do you knot your yarn at the beginning and then whip stitch or sc your sleeves together? I'm not sure how to start and how do I finish when I'm done sewing the sleeves together. If you weave in your yarn, it seems to me that the sewing of the yarn would not stay secure. Please help.

Thank you,

Need Help in Reading the Pattern for Cardi

I need help in understanding the pattern for my cardigan. Here is the link of the my pattern:

http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2357.pdf

I am having a hard time understanding the side edgings and side seams instructions. For the side edgings I am confused as the direction of my single crochet. Will my single crochet starts towards the left from the foundation chain or going upwards?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you once again.

Need Help in Reading the Pattern for Cardi

Please help me understand for the side edging pattern:

Side Edgings
With right side facing, join yarn in right-hand edge of Row
1; ch 1, work 64 (68, 75) sc across row ends. Fasten off.
Repeat Edging on left edge.

Do I have to single crochet from going up or side ways from right to left?

I am crocheting a cardigan on the pattern it says for the side seams:

Fold Body in half with right sides together so that piece is
now 10 (11, 12)” high x 32 (36, 40)” wide. Sew side seams
from bottom corners toward fold line through 12 (14, 15)

Please help me, I am trying to understand a pattern.

Hello,

I am learning how to crochet, and I am trying a project, but I am not sure if I understood the instructions, mainly the Row 2. This is part of the instructions:

Body Ch  109  (123,  137).
Row  1  (Right  Side):  Dc  in  4th  ch  from  hook,  dc  in  next  ch   and  in  each  ch  across;  turn  –  107  (121,  135)  sts.
Row  2: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc, and in each dc across,  dc  in  top  of  ch-3;  turn.
Repeat  Row  2  until  20  (22,  24)”  from  beginning.  Fasten  off.

A Newbie to the group

Hi I am new to the group and looking forward to learning my way around, I am considering becoming a certified teacher in crochet. I had no idea about this and stumbled upon it quite by accident. I am not sure if I want to do the correspondance or actual store. We have a Micheals near us within 5 min...I am not sure if they participate...

What is your favorite yarn to work with?

Hi all,
I almost always work with Red Heart Acrylic yarn for my amigurumi animals and blankets, but the other day I started making something with Lion Brand Wool Ease- Thick & Quick for a blanket and I love it. I was just wondering what kind of yarns you like working with, and what kind of stuff you make with them.

Help with Baby Booties Pattern

I have been crocheting for years, but it has always been afghans. Now that I am making baby booties I am having trouble understanding the pattern instructions. Ch 1, turn, sc in next 8 sc, sl st in next st on rrnd 4. The main thing I am having trouble with is how do you turn a round? Do you turn it and go back & work what you just worked? I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
Joan

Old Baby Patterns and Yarn

I have an old pattern book that calls for baby wool. I have tried to substitute baby fingering yarn by Patons, it's a super fine #1 size. This yarn is still too heavy to get the proper gauge . I remember using baby yarn many years ago that was finer than this baby fingering but can no longer find anything similar. Any suggestions?
