CYC Supports Yarn Instructors Teaching In Michaels Community Classroom

The Craft Yarn Council is pleased to support yarn instructors who teach in Michaels Community Classroom. Haven’t heard of Michaels Community Classroom? Here’s what Michaels has to say about their new program:

Michaels Community Classroom is more than just a place to teach a class. It's a place to share your passion for making. It's a place to use your yarn skills to empower others to make. It's a place to grow your maker community. And you can make extra money at the same time! You set the fees for every class you teach — and you get 70% of all the fees collected. The more students sign up, the more money you'll make!

If you decide to teach in Michaels Community Classroom, the Craft Yarn Council will support you and your classes at Michaels by providing you with free access to the following:

  • Exclusive Michaels Discover knit and crochet patterns to use in your classes

    • These are regularly updated and tech-edited, using products in Michaels stores

    • New patterns will be released on a regular basis

  • “How to” technique downloads that you may print and give to your students

  • Access to over one hundred past Discover patterns to use for your classes at Michaels

  • Promotion resources to market your classes at Michaels

Interested in becoming a certified knit and/or crochet instructor? CYC offers a knit and crochet certification program to those who want to teach the craft they love to others, called the Certified Instructors Program (CIP). More than 15,000 instructors have received their CIP certification and gone on to teach successful classes. While it is not a requirement to be certified by the Craft Yarn Council to teach at Michaels, we encourage you to consider it! Interested in learning more? Check out details on our website.
