I teach at a store in Chicago which is a large market with many yarn shops in addition to Michael stores. Yarn crafters have tons of choices to go to purchase yarn, take classes, etc., in addition to so many knitting groups and clubs. Even within the Michael stores, there are so many other hobbies competing for crafters' attention. How does one go about getting students in such a large market with so much offered? I can think of tons of ways to keep students with KALs, WUA events and other charity events. I, like so many others, am busy with obligations outside of trying to teach at Michaels. But I know that I have to make a much better effort also. One goal is to incorporate children classes.
