March 3 Meet the Teacher

I don't know about anyone else, but I got mixed messages about last Saturday's (March 3) meet the teacher event. I'm new to teaching at Michael's and this was the first event I was able to particiapte in. My store's class scheduler (the one with whom I schedule classes) told me that all the teachers were required to be there (correct), that we were expected to be in our respective departments (incorrect) to answer questions and motivate potential students. We were not to be doing demos (correct). When I asked about bringing in samples or work, I was told there would not be display space in the yarn dept, but that I could put up signage and would have schedules to hand out. So I created a storyboard on 20X30 foam board with reduced photos of each of the projects and attached a skein of yarn and a set needles to the board. No actual samples, as per instructions. When I got to the store, the manager had three tables set up in the front of the store with flyers for all classes and spaces for each of the three teachers (beads, Wilton, and me) to sit and greet customers. the Wilton lady brought a dozen beuatifully decorated cupcakes, the bead teacher had 6 "forms" with necklaces and I had only my signs. Oh, and each of the other two teachers had beautifully embroidered tan aprons that stated "Wilton" or "Bead..". I felt so left out. Did anyone else experience this? The good part was I got one person to sign for two classes. There were maybe eight who signed for the other classes.
