Hello everyone! I was recently hired and I'm currently going through the CIP. I'm in the process of writing up the required 3-course curriculum for the homework as well as a course syllabus for a beginners Discover Knitting class. I'm new to the whole process and I was wondering if I could let the students have a choice between patterns that they wanted to knit? The first is the garter stitch wrist warmers found here and the other I found as a free pattern on the Lion's Brand webpage called the Fern Green Hat (I read on the message board that we are allowed to use these free patterns, printed out as is from the LB pdf file.) They both contain the same stitches and techniques: CO, K, Bind off, sew seam, so I'd teach those techniques.
Does anyone else do this or have any advice for a beginner instructor? I have yet to teach formally in the classroom (I used to work for Michael's and have experience with teaching).
Thanks!
~Julie
