I did my first knitting DEMO yesterday. I thought I would be given a table and chair where I could sit, knit, and tell people what I was doing and encourage them to take a class. Instead I was told I would be at the Idea Center area, where I had to stand up the whole time. I did ask the Manager if I could have something to lean on, because I have a bad back, and she brought me a shorter stool so I could "sort of" lean on that once in a while. I don't mind doing the DEMO once a month, but I wish I had known that I was going to stand for 2+ hours, so I could have taken a pain pill before I arrived. I think Michael's needs more Associates on Saturdays, especially when they are having a big sale, like they did on this day. I will know next time how the whole thing works and be more prepared. I think there were at least 2 people who seemed really interested in taking a class, and it was fun to talk to all the people who stopped to look at my samples. All of the Associates at this store are very nice, and were so helpful when someone asked me where something was and I didn't know. How do some of you do your DEMO's? Maybe you can give me some pointers to get more people to stop by.
