Why do you love yarn?

I love yarn because it is the perfect medium for me to express creativity. Some use paint, while others use clay. For me, I use yarn!

How did you learn to knit or crochet (did you teach yourself or did someone else teach you)?

I am a self-taught crocheter of more than six years now. Today, I teach crochet on the very platform I learned to crochet, YouTube.

What was your favorite part about learning to knit or crochet?

My favorite part about learning to crochet was mastering the many different stitches. Learning is a big part of my life. I have surrounded myself with opportunities to learn and teach because it is my biggest strength and passion. Crochet can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be and opening the door to endless opportunities to learn has been a real blessing for me.

What is your go-to project suggestion for beginners?

It's very important for beginners to experience the satisfaction of finishing a project. This will help fuel their motivation to crochet more! For this reason, my go-to recommended project for beginners is a headband or cup cozy. They're quick, easy and practical. All three key ingredients for beginners!

What tips do you have for teaching others to knit or crochet?

There is a quote that I live by and have founded my teaching principles on,

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” -Benjamin Franklin

We learn best by doing. When you teach someone to crochet, show them step by step, answer their questions and encourage them. Be involved and they will learn!

What advice do you have for someone learning to knit or crochet?

Take it one stitch at a time. It won't be perfect for a while but if you slow down and enjoy the process of getting there, the skills will develop.
