Pattern Question

I am trying to crochet a Wave afghan for my Mother In Law - the pattern is not matching up when I start the 2nd row. I have torn everything out and started over about 4 times and each time my first wave beginning the 2nd row is not properly aligned making the peak of my wave crooked! Granted I am new to crocheting and new to elements in the pattern so I could be doing something wrong! HELP!

Here is the pattern:
1st row: (rs). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc). Ch 1. Miss next ch. (1 dc in next ch. Ch 1. Miss next ch) twice. [(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times] in next ch. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch. (ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch) twice. *miss next 3 ch. (1 dc in next ch. Ch 1. Miss next ch) 3 times. [(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times] in next ch. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch. (ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch) twice. Rep from * to last 2 ch. Miss next ch. 1 dc in last ch. Turn.

2nd and 3rd rows: ch 3 (counts as dc). Miss first ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1) twice. ###THIS IS WHERE MY TROUBLE BEGINS - MY 4 DC IN THE CH-1 SP IS ON THE SIDE OF THE 'PEAK' IN THE PREVIOUS ROW UNDERNEATH IT - IS THIS NORMAL?###[(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times] in next ch-1 sp. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1) twice. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. *miss next 2 ch-1 sps. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1) 3 times. [(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times] in next ch-1 sp. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1) twice. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from *, ending with miss last 2 dc. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn. 4th row: ch 3 (counts as dc).

This was taken directly from the patterns website - this is my first 'wave' pattern so I am probably doing something wrong or misunderstanding the pattern...

Thanks for your help!
