I have crocheted before but this pattern confuses me, can someone please help me get the ripples start that would be ever helpful...

1st row:
(RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch 1. Miss next ch. (1 dc in next ch. Ch 1. Miss next ch) twice. *(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times in next ch. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch. (Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch) twice.** Miss next 3 ch. (1 dc in next ch. Ch 1. Miss next ch) 3 times. Rep from * 8 times more, then from * to ** once. Miss next ch. 1 dc in last ch. Turn.
2nd row:
Ch 3. Miss first 2 dc and ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1) twice. *(1 dc. Ch 1) 4 times in next ch-1 sp. (1 dc in next ch-1 sp.
