I've emailed the CYC and not heard back for weeks. So, now I'm asking you.

Does anyone else find it odd that the second class (the PURL class) has patterns with color change in them, when (as a certified instructor) I did not have to show my competency in color change for my Level I Certification (which is of equivalent beginner skill levels as the classes are supposed to be). I know when I was learning to knit, I mastered how to work a purl stitch before I even considered changing yarn colors.

Does anyone know for sure when the WUA event is? I had heard Nov. 11 but today I got the Nov. playbook and it says Nov.10. I hope that it is Nov. 10 because i usually get a bad turn out on Sunday. Nov 11 is also veterans day and there are other events going on. In the playbook it says that this is a manditory event for al Discover teachers.

Did any of you get a memo from your Mgr that we are not allowed to do our own demos anymore?
We can only do demos that are sceduled by corporate like the Open house or yarn events.
My Mgr got the message from corporate yesterday.
I am disappointed because that is how I get a lot of my students.

I was just wondering what kind of turnout others had for the open house that was held earlier today, 9/8/2012. Our store was very slow today and we had very few people interested in the classes. I only got one person signed up for a class, and out of the four other instructors that were there, they only had 2 people sign up for the Wilton cake decorating class, and no one for jewelry or painting. The managers, the other instructors, and I were all wondering why they didn't have this sometime over Labor day weekend, when the store was swamped and we had tons of good sales going on.

Hi,
I see that CYC has made Oct 12 an "I Love Yarn Day." Why was it set up for a Friday? Wouldn't it have been better on a Saturday?

I also see that there is to be a special demo on Tues Nov 6 for Warm Up America. Why during the week?

Are you planning on anything special for these two days?

It says that I have to make a 4'x6' poster for knit and crochet classes. Are you really using such a big board? The manager at Michaels said that foam board size was big enough. What have you used? And where is the poster being displayed? Do you have knit and crochet items on the board? Oh, and the manager said he thought I would get paid $100 to make this board?

Hi,
When do I punch in and when do I punch out? I read that Michaels was very strict about not clocking in more than 5 min before or after your time, else you get penalized. I punched in at 7 min before my start time and hope I won't get "corrected."

I was told that classes were 2.5 hours, no more, no less. But one day when I was working on the calendar with the manager he said that the class has to be 3 hours, else I couldn't get paid. I didn't understand that.

Here's another newbie question: How do you get the signup sheets and syllabuses for the classes. Michaels has a binder and only has the first two knitting lessons in it. I have all 4 knitting and crocheting classes set up but no way to sign up for all of them. I pointed this out to a manager yesterday and she agreed that they were missing and I said that I didn't know how to get them. Ideas?
