Warm Up America Joining Parties

My store has not done this since well before I started working there 3 years ago. I am trying to schedule our first joining party, but I have no idea how long a session I need to schedule. I can't find any guidance on Moogle and no one in the store seems to have any idea either. How long does it take to complete a blanket? I really don't know how many volunteers we will have show up, so I could be working mostly by myself or I could have a dozen volunteers. There doesn't seem to be that much interest from our customers.

Discover Fair Isle: Cowl Pattern

Has anyone found the diagram and instructions lacking for this pattern? The Chart only shows 2 color contrast, I see 4 colors in the pattern. Black, White, Brown, and Tan. Why does the pattern chart not show all 4 colors? I am going to have to create a better chart on graph paper in order to explain and have a good example of a design for students to follow. This is not the only pattern I have found rather short on description - knowing that most of our students are newbees - the better the pattern the easier for them to follow.

March 3 - Class Open House

Even though I am a crochet instructor not a knit instructor, I'm posting this to both lists.

This event was very briefly mentioned in the December newsletter, but I haven't heard any more about it from either CYC or my store management. I'm assuming this is going to be like the one in September, which didn't go well for me, but since my home store has a new manager, it may be completely different this year.

Getting Students in a Large Market

I teach at a store in Chicago which is a large market with many yarn shops in addition to Michael stores. Yarn crafters have tons of choices to go to purchase yarn, take classes, etc., in addition to so many knitting groups and clubs. Even within the Michael stores, there are so many other hobbies competing for crafters' attention. How does one go about getting students in such a large market with so much offered? I can think of tons of ways to keep students with KALs, WUA events and other charity events.
