So....I taught my first class. I had 6 paid students. The CEM said that my bonus (my portion of the class fee) came to $139. I was there for 5 1/2 hours (I taught 2 classes) and she told me that I only get paid for 2.5 hours per class...and that my hourly pay is deducted from my bonus (per customer fee). Does that sound right????

So, basically, we are just getting a portion of the class fees...and nothing by the hour???

I'm so confused. Is there someplace where I can read the correct procedure?

Sorry if this has been covered before...but I thought I read somewhere (here???) that when our classes are discounted at the Open House events, that even though the classes are discounted, we get paid based upon the full $25 value? I was speaking with the Customer Experience Manager today and she said we get paid based up what the customer actually paid for the class.

Does anyone know the correct answer to this?

I'm doing my first class on Saturday. It is for the Garter Stitch Cuffs listed on this site. I'm looking at the gauge on the pattern instructions and it says:

About 9 stitches = 4 in. in Garter Stitch
(knit every row).

...but how many rows???

A couple of people have just posted on the Facebook group saying they have been told that starting April 1 we will need to have a minimum of 3 students for a class. I'm going to look into this tomorrow at work, but I wanted to give those that might not be on Facebook a heads up. I was doubtful when the first person posted, but than another posted that they had been told the same thing.

I am finding that my students are struggling to complete the entire project within the 2.5 hour class time. They get a good start on it but they are unable to finish. Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

I just finished the keyhole scarf as a class sample. I had no problem with the split or the cables, but when I got to the end of the cables and started to decrease, I found a problem. I was working with 36 stitches, but the instructions said (decrease row) K1, *K2, K2 tog. Repeat from * across to last 3 sts. K3, 28 sts. I tried this three times, and did not get 28 (I got less). I finally reworked the instructions to be: (decrease row) K3, *K2, K2 tog. Repeat from * across to last 3 sts. K3, 28 sts.
Did anyone else have this problem - I thought I was counting wrong.

I was in my local Michael's yesterday (3/16/12) and saw a sign advertising all bed, knitting, and fine arts classes at buy one get one free. When I asked how long this would be offered, the clreks said they had no ending date. No one officially told us (the teachers about this and this is a corporate decision. The manager was unavailable at the time to ask how this affects our pay. Has anyone heard how long this campaign will be?

I was trying to update my class signup book the 14th and 15th (March) and couldn't find the Purl Stitch Registration form on Moogle. Anyone else having the same problem? I know Moogle is goofy when you search sometimes but it appears that the document is gone. Does anyone know who to contact at corporate to ask about this? Guess that teaches me to print off a blank copy for all my classes and keep them safe...

Michaels employees can take any class for free. I was wondering if we get paid to teach them. Since they do not pay for the class, do we submit the paperwork as we would normally? I need to know how teaching an employee is handled, since I have several people (employees of Michaels) that want to take my class. I don't want to teach for free, since I do have to travel a ways to teach the class. Thanks for any help.
