Can anyone help me find out how to get a copy of the Yarn Night sign up sheet? My store has no clue and it isn't on Moogle.
Thanks!
I was teaching at a Michaels and had real issues with everything. No one in the store really knew how the program worked, but yet they wanted lots of classes to happen. That was really hard as I had no guidence in how to achieve this. I did demos, and got no sign ups. Did the open house and got only one sign up. I put up what the store calls yellow stars...stating lean to knit ask an associate or cashier for more info....and put them up around the store and by the registers. Went back in a day later and all of them were taken down.
I contacted Lion Brand yarns about using their on-line patterns in class and got this reply:
Lion Brand is happy to be participating in the CYC Discover program. In addition to the Lion Brand patterns provided by the CYC, you may use patterns from our website in conjunction with Lion Brand yarns. Please be sure to leave the copyright intact when providing copies to your students, and please indicate that they are free from LionBrand.com.
They have some really cute freebies and some summer totes that would work nicely.
Enjoy!
Let me start by saying, that I know all things take time, and this is a new program in my Michael's store...but BOY, is it frustrating in the meantime! I am not posting which store I am with, as I don't want to point fingers at ANYONE. The frustration is an overall thing.
When I went to get copies of the class handouts made, they said they'd need a letter saying I had permission to copy them, as there is a copyright statement at the bottom. Does anyone know how I go about getting that?
Thanks
I have been looking for free patterns for potential summer projects. I have found some that may be suitable on line from some of the major yarn companies and also some posted free in stores (Walmart, Michael's, Joanne's). Can we use these patterns for our classes or must we first get permission from the yarn company? If anyone knows the policy, please share it with me. Thanks
Here's the Discover Time - Loom Knitting handouts I created if anyone else would like to use them. My students had a blast and I highly encourage y'all to take advantage of the open curriculum of Discover Time... I've got a Stripes class starting next month and am working on a 2 part 2-at-a-time socks class too. The students are really responding to signing up for classes when they know they can come learn how to make garments too. My CEM and I are also discussing a 3 part sweater class.

I have called the store to check on class enrolment, only to be given the wrong information. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem, but it has happened to me more than once and at two different stores (I do knit and crochet at one, and crochet at the other). I've found the employees either got the teacher wrong at one store and told me the class had someone enrolled, or they got the wrong day/class. I've made the trip to the store, only to discover no one was signed up for the class!
Hi folks, I'm wondering how you get the customer's attention during demos, and what you do, right off, within the first 10 seconds, to get their interest. I'm having a difficult time getting the number of sign ups that I'd like, and I thought we could all share ideas and learn from each other.
I submitted a request to join the facebook group. I have not yet been accepted. Does anyone know what the time frame is on group approval? Thank you.
