I help with the Michaels calendar at my store and found out yesterday that Michaels is planning on another open house on May 19, 2012 from 1-3. Hope this helps everyone get prepared. I posted this on both the Knit forum and the Crochet forum

The las Sunday I have a knit class from 10:00 to 12:00 and ane student sign up for one class, other student sign up for the next two classes and when she ask to pay for both classes she received a 50%off the computer said BOGO Buy one an get one free, the cashier call to the manager to let him know about this and him "told her give that price to the customer and I will report that issue to the corporate", because he think that was a system mistake.

I don't know about anyone else, but I got mixed messages about last Saturday's (March 3) meet the teacher event. I'm new to teaching at Michael's and this was the first event I was able to particiapte in. My store's class scheduler (the one with whom I schedule classes) told me that all the teachers were required to be there (correct), that we were expected to be in our respective departments (incorrect) to answer questions and motivate potential students. We were not to be doing demos (correct).

I have attempted the Mitered Knitting: Patchwork Blanket 3 times with no success. The pattern is VERY confusing. There are much easier methods to accomplish a mitered square. Anyone else have problems with this pattern?

I just recently began teaching Time for Knit at Michaels.
I've downloaded all the student curriculum and label images and whatnot,
but the images that are available for download regarding the yarn weights & labels were all individually represented
and kind of jumbled so I organized them into a label guide sheet that might make it easier for beginner
knitters to understand yarn labels.

Yea! The new digitized Knit Notebook is now available for download under Teach/CIP/Handbook! I am mentioning here because somehow, no email notification made it to my in box. I just happened to check today.

Hi-
I taught a class in cables to today. I went to the store 30 minutes in advance of my class to make sure I was ready. Asked very helpful managers if they could located the patterns for me on moogle. I read in one of Jenny's notes they would be on after the first of the year. We couldn't find any patterns. Do any of you know anything about this? Is first of the year - first of the fiscal year? (July). Thanks for the help. We got through the class , but not happy about the patterns.

Where/when do the students get the supply list? Are they suppose to come to class with needed supplies?

I have tried contacting Jenny and Mary about patterns and such for the last week with no reply to voice mail or email. Of which before I paid for my CIP I was getting at least daily emails and sometimes 3 a day from CYC.

Does anyone know if there will be new patterns posted for spring? I have been asked by prospective students who want to learn on patterns for spring or summer. Request have been lace hats, cotton blend baby items, household projects such as placemates and dishcloths and mop covers for swiffers.

Ah, the saga continues...

This week I was told that I would no longer get paid to do a knitting demo in my store. I can do one whenever I want, but I will not be paid. Michael's effectively wants free advertising and customer service (because the customers ALWAYS ask me where something is). They also want class enrollment to go up.

So... I'm pretty sure this is the beginning of the end of the knitting classes at Michael's. It's such a shame, since the program just got started and was just starting to pick up (thanks to my being in the store and promoting the classes!).
