I have agreed to teach a one handed person to knit. I'd really appreciate some suggestions on how to actually do this. Please share your experiences with me.

Her right hand is paralyzed and she uses her left hand for everything, including crocheting. I figure the continental method would be best.

Does it bother anyone else that we are calling 5" by 7" blocks of yarn "squares"? I thought a square had to have four equal sides. Just a small thing that needles at me . . . nothing to loose sleep over. But, I sure wouldn't use the Warm Up America "Squares" in math class.

Has anyone else had any problems with getting conflicting info? The things I have been told by CYC about how things are supposed to work at Michael's are pretty much the opposite of what happens and/or what they tell me at the store.

Has anyone received any kind of guide lines for the November 6th event? Jenny said store should be getting something on it this last week, but I've not heard or seen anything.

I recntly finished the 3 stitch hat and am not too happy with it. I used a long tail cast on as this is the one we teach with and row 1 of instructions says to knit that row then to the 1 x 1 ribbing. i ended up with a ridge on both sides. It looks nothing like the picture. I am thinking that the simple cast on should be used even though we don't teach it. Has anyone else run into this or did I miss something ???

How elaborate are your projects you're sending in for your CIP certification? I'm trying to get everything ready to mail for my second level in knitting. I'm finding myself knitting practicly day and night trying to get it all done:three projects plus one original garment plus all those swatches.

I finished my instruction hours yesterday afternoon, but it will me another week or two before I can possibly hope to have all the projects finished. I'm trying hard to get the knitting donw so I can get down to work on my crochet certification and have both done by Christmas.

One of the pages you can view is the "CLASSES". All the classes categories are listed and each has a "Find Out More" link...... EXCEPT for knit and crochet. It is listed, but no click through is available.

Michaels teachers: How do you check on class enrollment? The reason I ask is because there was a mishap today and I’m wondering how to avoid it in the future. I had classes scheduled for 9:30, 1:30 and 4:00 today. When I called at about 3:30 pm yesterday to see if there were any students, I was told that there was 1 student for 1:30. I asked a couple of time to clarify that there were no students for the 9:30 and 4:00 and was assured that there were none. At 10:00 am today, I got a call that there were 3 students waiting for me (1 pre-registered and 2 paying on the spot).

#1 Do I get the yarn for this project at the store or use my own stash, which I don't have enough of?
#2 Can I crochet some and knit some of the squares for 1 throw?
#3 What if I haven't finished all the squares by Nov 6th Demo?

I was wondering what success anyone had in signing up people at the Open House. I have yet to teach a class even though I have put on 10 demos. The manager says my approach to getting people interested is not aggressive enough. Any suggestions on how to get sign-ups, I have to keep cancellng classes.
